Your Mission
As Senior Structures Integration Engineer, (all genders), you will be responsible for key structural design and integration work for VÆRIDION’s CS-23 all-electric aircraft.
You will develop lightweight, manufacturable, safe and certifiable airframe structures from concept through detailed design, prototype build, test support, and production-ready release. Your work will cover primary and secondary structures, metallic and composite design and structural integration.
You will work closely with Flight Physics, Material and Processes, Systems, Production, Configuration, Certification, Safety and external partners to turn our aircraft architecture into robust, buildable hardware while mentoring junior engineers within your area of expertise.
Your Day-to-Day
- Independently execute structural integration activities and assigned integration work packages.
- Coordinate, develop and mature physical interfaces across major airframe assemblies, flight controls, systems, equipment, batteries, landing gear, interiors, and electrical installations.
- Identify, manage and track the maturity of structural, mechanical, geometric, and equipment installation interfaces.
- Translate aircraft-level architecture and system requirements into integration constraints, space allocations, interface requirements, and installation design solutions.
- Be responsible for integration work packages from initial architecture and space allocation through interface definition, design maturity, and released configuration.
- Prepare and maintain Interface Control Documents, Frontier Package models, space allocation envelopes, keep-out zones, and other integration data.
- Maintain and mature the aircraft Digital Mock-Up (DMU) and Product Structure, as well as perform clash detection, clearance checks, accessibility assessments, and support zonal analyses.
- Liaise with internal and external engineering teams to define routing paths, structural provisions, penetrations, cut-outs, and attachment concepts.
- Consider safety, certification, load, weight, interchangeability, manufacturability, inspectability, and maintainability requirements.
- Work closely with Design and Analysis engineers to develop technically robust and weight-efficient integration solutions.
- Coordinate interfaces across major airframe assemblies including fuselage, wing, empennage, doors, movable surfaces, landing gear, and propulsion or battery installations.
- Lead integration reviews, track multidisciplinary issues and risks, and drive the stakeholders towards resolution.
- Support prototype manufacturing, aircraft assembly, structural and system testing, non-conformance resolution, and design improvements.
- Coordinate integration activities with internal engineering teams and external Design & Build partners.
- Prepare and lead interface reviews, DMU reviews, integration reviews, and installation maturity reviews.
- Track integration issues, dependencies, assumptions, risks, and technical decisions through closure.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to integration standards, methods, and engineering best practices.
Your Profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of aerospace engineering experience, with strong experience in aircraft structural integration, airframe design, or aircraft systems installation.
- Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 and/or 3DEXPERIENCE 3D modelling, including design of large assemblies and installations, DMU reviews, clash and clearance checks, and work with configuration-controlled Product Structures.
- Demonstrated performance on at least two aircraft development programs, such as clean-sheet aircraft, major modifications, prototype-to-certification programs, or production ramp-ups.
- Strong understanding of primary and secondary aircraft structures in metallic and composite materials.
- Strong experience integrating aircraft structures with systems, equipment, landing gear, propulsion, batteries, interiors, electrical installations, or flight-control systems.
- Solid understanding of structural load paths, joints, fittings, fasteners, equipment attachments, penetrations, grounding and bonding, corrosion protection, tolerancing, and installation constraints.
- Strong understanding of aircraft space allocation, accessibility, maintainability, assembly sequence, inspectability, and removal requirements.
- Experience developing and managing ICDs, IADs, geometric envelopes, installation requirements, and interface-related engineering data.
- Experience working with Digital Mock-Ups, large aircraft assemblies, clash detection, clearance analysis, and multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Ability to independently develop and mature integration concepts using first-principles and engineering judgement when detailed analysis is not available, resolve multidisciplinary issues, and recognize when specialist input or escalation is required.
- Ability to apply first-principles engineering and sound technical judgement before detailed analysis is available.
- Good understanding of airworthiness and certification principles related to aircraft structures and installations, ideally for EASA CS-23 aircraft.
- Strong understanding of cross-functional dependencies between Design, Stress, Systems, Production, Certification, Safety, Quality, Configuration Management, and suppliers.
- Ability to solve local and multidisciplinary integration issues while recognizing when specialist input or technical escalation is required.
- Excellent communication skills, strong team orientation, structured working style, and strong technical judgement.
- Experience managing suppliers and supporting or leading interface, integration, and design reviews.
